Adopt a Border Collie / Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed (medium coat)
Allie the Dog needs a home
Allie is fostered in Duette, FL (Manatee County). We are a foster-based rescue and always looking for foster families!
Allie is a border collie mix of about 8 years of age and 28 lbs. But don't let her age fool you - at her size and breed she is still a medium-high energy girl with plenty of focus and drive, complete with an awesome off switch. Allie requires a fenced yard to play, run and train in, and either a companion dog or a very active home with plenty of one-on-one time to give.
Allie is an independent and fun little girl. She has herding drive and will herd kids and other dogs. She is pretty bossy and is not recommended for kids younger than 10. She is very respectful with seniors. She loves to play catch and tug as well as search for toys. Allie knows her basic commands (sit, stay, potty, up, down, crate, eat), but true loves are lizard hunting, playing ball and her newfound pastime of playing Frisbee. She would make an awesome dog for a low-key UpDog competitor or someone who just enjoys playing disc with their dog.
Allie does well with the two larger female cur mixes in her foster home. She is learning to share her humans and not be such an attention hog. She has been introduced on leash to goats, horses and ponies. She was curious, sniffed and followed them with no aggression, and within a couple minutes of each visit was bored and back to chasing after lizards. Her foster family envisions an active home for her where she can go out on the town, hiking and on adventures She does well on leash in public places. Her foster mom says it is obvious someone loved her very much and put in the time to work with her.
Allie is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and preventives, heartworm negative and microchipped.
