Description:
Hi, I'm Vickie a beautiful Chow mix who was rescued from an LA Shelter where my time was up. I'm fine with people and you may watch the videos below to see my interaction with other dogs. I'm a perfect lady and take treats gently. I'll always be grateful for being given a chance at finding my forever family and home.
I'm lucky to be in a foster home, while I wait to get adopted. My foster mom has this to say about me. Vickie has fit quite easily into our family of 2 adults and two children (ages 11 and 8), 5 year old Staffie mix, rat and 5 chickens. She has gotten along with all the other dogs she has gotten to meet while with us. She enjoys trips in the car (although she will try to drive!) and likes the dog park. At first she barked at the chickens every time I went into the coop to feed them (but otherwise left them mostly alone) now she doesn’t bark. We are close to introducing her to them while on leash. She is a little bit timid with adults, especially men, but has always been happy to interact with the children (being timid, a home with older kids would probably be good). She had a bit of a hard time making it outside to urinate when we first got her on Dec 10th, but we had the door closed and she isn’t good about telling us she needs to go out, now that the smoke has cleared (literally) and the dog-door is back in, she has only had one accident (she has NEVER defecated in the house). She is super sweet and loves attention and to be petted. She is not much of a cuddler, but will stand next to you and lift your arm up with her nose to be petted. She tolerates being brushed pretty well and even had a bath with us last weekend (she didn’t particularly like it, but she tolerated it – the kids helped!) She does bark at the mailman and when someone is approaching the house, but in general she is quiet. She is SOOOOO soft and velvety and my daughter loves to read to her and she is sleeping on a blanket in her room every night. My son would like to add that the she has the CUTEST paws ever!
Please stop by and meet me, I'll be waiting to greet you with a big smile.
*Thank you to Sharon for sponsoring this wonderful dog at the Burnice Kraemer Sanctuary and giving her the chance for a better life.
