Roger the Dog needs a home
Hi! My name is Roger, and I’m from the Hawaiian island of Kauai. That’s right! I travelled all the way to Cincinnati from Hawaii. You see, my foster parents were vacationing on Kauai, and they met me through the field trip program at the Kauai Humane Society. They hated the idea of leaving me behind, and the wonderful people at SAAP agreed to let me be a SAAP dog, so here I am, looking for my forever home in the Midwest!
I’m a busy little guy; I like light play and following my people around. I love getting attention and pets from my people, followed by relaxing on a super-comfy bed. I have arthritis, so I prefer wandering around the yard a bit, rather than taking walks. I’m good with the other dogs – big and small – in my foster home, as well as the cats. I’m also crate trained and pretty quiet, except when the other dogs get rowdy.
I have some special needs, so I’m looking for a special home. First, I have both arthritis and chronic dry eye, so I require daily medication and eye drops. Second, because of my arthritis – and my little legs! – I can only go up and down about three steps at a time. For that reason, I’m looking for a home with few steps, or people who are willing to carry me up and down the steps. (I’m only 14 pounds, so my foster parents have no problem carrying me.) Third, I can be nippy at times (it’s almost always playful!), so I need a home without small children, and with people who will continue to work with me to correct that behavior.
Despite my special needs, my foster parents say that I’m an easy dog to have around, and they enjoy my company. They think I’m funny and sweet, and they say that I’ve come a long way (pun intended) since they first met me in Hawaii!
