What could be more comforting on a cold winter's day than GUMBO? He's handsome and cuddly, and couldn't be any more precious if he tried.
This snuggly pup was taken in as a stray with a foot injury and they though he may have been hit by a car, but has been seen by a vet and there are no fractures, just a deep cut and soft tissue injury and is already recovering well and putting weight on it. At his vet appointment, it was also discovered that he has an old skull/jaw fracture, found on X-ray. It makes it difficult to open his mouth very wide, but he seems to be doing just fine despite that. We don't want to think about how he got these injuries, but we have promised him a safe and loving foster home until we can find him the perfect forever home.
He has stolen the hearts of the vet staff, so much so that they refused to send him back to the shelter and insisted that he remain at the vet's office until rescued.
As he is still a puppy, he will need an adopter who can provide walks more often to help wit housebreaking, as well as structure and play time.Typical puppy stuff that gets rewarded with puppy joy!
The adoption fee for this dog is $350. If you are interested in adopting Gumbo, please submit an adoption application at http://dcpawsrescue.org/adoption-info/adoption-application-dogs/DC PAWS Rescue does our best to provide accurate and complete information about our adoptable animals. Please note that we cannot make any guarantees about age or breed; we rely upon our rescue partners and their veterinarians to make those assessments. We also cannot make any guarantees about housebreaking and animal temperament, as animals can behave differently through transition and in different environments.
Our shelter partners provide a basic vet screening for each animal we rescue, which includes necessary vaccinations, deworming, microchipping, and spay/neuter (unless the animal is too young or otherwise deemed by the vet to not be a good candidate for surgery). Please note that this is not a comprehensive medical exam and as such, may not identify any and all medical issues, though our goal is to flag any obvious health issues through the basic vet screening. We share all medical records with adopters and flag any known issues prior to adoption finalization.
