Standard Adoption Fee Adult Dog: $250 ea. Puppy Adoption Fee: $300 ea. Reduced rates for Seniors dogs (10 and up). Reduced rates for pairs (when adopted together).

While we do not always have puppies available for adoption, from time to time we do take in an abandoned litter or a pregnant mother. DDRTX maintains strict provisions regarding the adoption of puppies. We DO NOT allow puppies to go to adopters until they are 3 months old OR have had 3 sets of their first puppy shots. In addition, we require a stringent Puppy Provisions Contract be signed and the adoption fee paid in full before a puppy goes to the home.
Our Puppy Provisions are:
1.) The puppy still belongs to Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas (DDRTX) until the puppy has been spayed/neutered
2.) At 5-6 months old the puppy will be returned to DDRTX to be spayed/neutered by a DDRTX veterinarian
3.) The puppy will receive all vaccinations required by DDRTX by a DDRTX-approved veterinarian
4.) The adopter will provide a safe, enriching, and loving environment
5.) ANY exceptions to this agreement must be in writing and approved by the Executive Director
Please Note: puppies take a lot of time and effort. They demand a lot of attention during their first year of life in order to develop a happy, well-balanced dog and an equally-pleased owner—including house training, learning good manners, basic obedience skills, and mind-enriching playtime and activities. Puppies provide many laughs and lots of fun, but they also require a LOT of patience and energy. PLEASE be sure that you have the extra time, energy, patience, toys, and cleaning supplies necessary before you bring a puppy into your life. If you do feel you have what it takes to bring a puppy into your home, please indicate that you are interested in a puppy when filling out the adoption application form.
