Adopt a Domestic Short Hair / Mixed (short coat)
Sonny the Cat needs a home
DOB: 6/10/11
Sonny is an orange tabby that found his way into GRASP after his family’s living situation changed. Sonny's favorite spot to be scratched is on the back of his neck. He loves to play with string toys and enjoys catnip and eating canned food. He also really likes to watch out the windows, admiring the wonders of the world. He is not a fan of being picked up or carried around. When his foster mom lies down at bedtime, Sonny will come over for as much loving as he can get (so be prepared to be head butted). Spooning is his favorite thing when he sees you are awake in the morning but still in bed. He isn't a big talker as he likes to keep his activities to himself, but he is an awesome listener.
It will take Sonny time to adjust to change in his environment, so we are looking for an adopter who will be patient with him. He will need a two week shutdown, which will consist of a quiet room for him to stay in with the adopter at times sitting in the room and allowing him to initiate contact. Once he has adjusted to his surroundings, he will rub up against you and give head bumps to be petted while purring away. His adopter will need to read his body language when initiating petting. It appears Sonny may have a bit of separation anxiety which we believe is a result of his past. You only see this anxiety on occasion when you stop petting him. He has to be the only animal as he does not like other cats or dogs. We also feel he will need to be in a quiet, adult only home as too much activity scares him.
Sonny deserves to find his furever home... please consider being that dream come true!
This cat has been combo-tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV, received all age-appropriate vaccinations and is altered.
