Adopt a Pit Bull Terrier / Husky / Mixed (short coat)

Pit Bull Terrier / Husky / Mixed (short coat) Dog

COCO the Dog needs a home

Coco was surrendered due to being disobedient with her owners. She is a very shy girl who needs someone to go slow with her and teach her that people are fun! Coco needs obedience training, exercise, and would most likely do best in a home with no other animals. Caution should be used if children are in the family only due to her nervous demeanor. Once Coco warms up to you, she loves to snuggle on your lap!

Coco was adopted and then returned due to the other dogs in the home being aggressive towards her. Coco did very well when being introduce to the dogs in the shelter environment and was playful, but unfortunately the dogs in the home did not accept her and were overly protective of their home.

02/15/18 Coco was adopted again and returned again a day later because the owners felt she was being too protective of their family and was too standoffish and distrustful of strangers. Shelter staff would like to remind potential adopters that Coco may be the kind of dog that does not warm up to everyone, and may take longer to warm up to strangers than other dogs. Her new owner will need to understand this and be willing to take the time and make the effort to make all interactions with new people exciting and positive in order to show Coco that having new experiences and meeting new people is fun! Attending a basic obedience class may be a good, structured way to do this. Coco''s most recent owners did report that she behaved nicely with their young child and was a sweet and affectionate dog to them.
