Atlas The Dane the Dog needs a home
We have an adoptable Great Dane who needs a local foster or adopter while he gets over kennel cough. We would like him in the Easy Bay Area so we can have him close to our Vet. He will do best as an only dog at this time as a year ago he was attacked by a Bull Terrier so he is timid and unsure of dogs (no matter the size).
Atlas the Dane is a neutered male, Great Dane, 3yrs old, 120 lbs.
TEMPERAMENT: Friendly but a little shy at first and warms up. Playful, but not overly so.
SKILLS: Potty trained. Crate trained. Leash trained. Good with gentle children over 6.
Likes walks, but not great for too much hiking.

REQUIREMENTS TO ADOPT:
-Be a mature home owner who has experience with big or giant dogs, and can ABSOLUTELY make the 100% commitment to being his family for the rest of his life, no matter what curve balls life throws at you.
-Be able to afford to care for a Giant Breed dog. Giant breed dogs are a bit of a speciality and are not for everyone.
-No very small children under 6
-Enjoy giant lap dogs
-Be gentle and patient
ONE LAST THING:
Atlas is a very special guy. He will do best as an only dog at this time-A year ago he was attacked by a Bull Terrier so he is timid of some dogs (no matter the size). He's very curious about little dogs, but doesn't know his own size, so may be pushy. He needs savvy owners willing to work with him to help build his confidence. A class in basic manners would benefit him because it will help him feel more secure and work as a great bonding tool for dog and owner. Atlas is treat motivated which is helpful in compassionate training. He will do well with a set schedule as it helps him follow rules better and a firm, compassionate handler.
