Coco is a delightful, sweet, fun, energetic little dog. She’s dog and cat friendly, though she can get a little possessive around food. A firm verbal correction is enough to redirect her, though. She has a very terrier personality: she’s driven, focused, and lets you know exactly what she wants. She would benefit greatly from obedience training; she will sit and shake, but needs work on leash manners, begging, and stealing (food). However, she is VERY food focused, so I think she will be easy to train once you gain her trust.
Current treatment for her diabetes includes a low fat, low carb diet (she’s on a high quality kibble right now) and twice daily insulin injections. Feeding times need to be consistent and about 12 hours apart. Other than that’s she’s just like any other dog.
She can be somewhat uncompromising, so someone with previous terrier experience would be best for her. Though she is small, she can be very barky, which could be a difficulty in a home with shared walls. Coco is a little nervous at first, and will take some time to settle in, but she’s a darling and if given the chance, will steal your heart.
