Shadow

What a cute guy!! Shadow has actually been at Maumelle Animal a Services for two months now. He is 8-12 months old and he is super cute. He seems to be what you call a “pocket pittie”, he now has a little sway back and shorter legs then typical bully’s do. Why do we say ”now”? Well, imagine having a very treatable undiagnosed condition that causes you to tinkle a little more frequently then normal. Now imagine being in a home that didn’t know and instead of finding you medical treatment, they stuck you in a small kennel with no room to grow or stretch. Add to that no play time, no interaction, and not enough food. Basically, caged up and put away. Well, that’s what happened to Shadow. When he first came to us, he was a hunchback with shakey legs. He was wobbly and couldn’t stand well. He wouldn’t make eye contact and he hoarded his food and water. The thing is, we took our time with him, we let his body and mind heal, we let him gain 10-15 pounds, and we got him the medical help He needed in order regain control over his bladder. We have now find out that he, indeed, has Diabetes Insipidus. Basically everything he drank went right through him. He had no control over it, no way to say that he had to go and “now!”, no understanding of his punishment. Diabetes Insipidus is a very treatable condition requiring daily eye drops. That’s all he needed. He is now being started on them. Two months after being found wandering in a Maumelle neighborhood, Shadow has turned into a very fun loving and gorgeous dog. He is catching up on all the things he missed out on as a pup. He loves attention. He loves to play. He is ready for a new home, keeping in mind his daily need for his medication. Shadow is no longer that little emaciated dog that everyone thought was only 3 months old. He is a gorgeous pocket pittie and he is full of personality! Shadow is going to make someone very happy! He just needs the chance! Date of Intake: 12/11/17

Shadow will be microchipped, sterilized and made current on shots prior to adoption. He WILL NOT be adopted out to any residence within a BSL community. Vet references and Personal references WILL be checked. MFOA and MAS will reserve the right to a home inspection prior to adoption if felt necessary. Given Shadow's breed ID, we want to make sure he is given the best and the most responsible home out there. Shadow WILL NOT be in attendance at our Saturday showings at the NLR Petsmart. He can be visited at MAS only.

We are always at the NLR PetSmart with our available pets on every Saturday of the month. 10:30 - 3:15 pm ish. ***Shadow WILL NOT be able to attend Saturday showings. He can be visited at Maumelle Animal Services on Saturdays 12-4:30.
