Mayesie the Dog needs a home
As many of you know, we continue to run at full capacity here at the new shelter location on Mayes Street. The new dog pens have succeeded in keeping our rescue animals warm, dry, and safe this winter. The only unfortunate component of this is that we very literally do not have any room to spare. While adoptions continue at a modest pace, it's not enough to offset the steady stream of dogs that we are asked to take. These constraints force us to turn away a number of animalsâ?¦. but there are times where exceptions have to be made. Mayesie is one of those exceptions.
Mayesie was brought to us by her "owners", who could no longer deal with the nuisance of having a dog around. Except, or course, that Mayesie isn't a nuisance at all. She is energetic, playful, affectionateâ?¦ all these things and more despite having a 4 foot piece of rope that had become embedded in the skin of her neck. Despite not having any room for the dog, we were happy to take Mayesie and her "owners" were happy to be rid of her. They didn't even ask for the rope back.
We're so pleased that Mayesie is now in a warm, safe place. Still, we're disheartened because - although she gets multiple daily walks and attention - she's doesn't have a pen of her own. It's obvious that she deserves so much more, and we hope that you can find it in your heart to open your home to her. If your home is not right for Mayesie, we encourage you to come by the shelter and spend some time with her. She loves getting to meet new people and loves any excuse to get to play outside.
