Skylark the Dog needs a home
Skylark LOVES people so much that she loves to follow you around the house, cuddle, and get lots of affection! She loves kids but if she lived with little kids she would probably get overwhelmed, so older kids are best.
Skylark loves other dogs, once she is comfortable with them- but this can take some time. If she is not given direction she can be reactive to dogs on the leash, but she listens to corrections well and hasn't been reactive recently. Still, she should have slow intros to all dogs. When engaging in play, she tends to play rough and can be mouthy and jumpy, so she should only be allowed to be high energy around stable dogs. She has lived with many dogs from a little energetic puppy to a big old dog and was great with them both.
She's fully house and crate trained, knows wait/stay, sit, come, leave it, place and touch! She is also great at walking on the leash, and being in a heel. She won't touch your shoes but she will chew up any toys or bones, and loves to play with anything you give her (especially study toys like a Kong or rope toy cause she will destroy stuffies.) She also loves to play catch!
Although she loves walks and playing with you, she is also able to release her energy by herself in the yard- which is really nice on busy or lazy days where you don't have time to provide exercise. She can be a bit antsy after being in the crate, so she's let out into the yard right way in the morning and right when we get home from work. She is usually calm in the house, but if you just got home she may be ramped up because she is so excited to see you! After her run around that she is typically chill inside and will just want to be by your side and snuggle.
If she does start getting amped up inside she usually just needs a reminder to be calm, by being put in the command "place". If she still is acting jittery inside she may be trying to let you know she has to go to the bathroom, or that she just wants to run around a bit more. If none of that is making her settle she is just acting out, and is too overstimulated- so she just needs some crate rest to decompress because she's overworking herself. She has great obedience- but she will push you over if you let her.
She needs someone who will advocate for her and understand her issues with dogs. She has been great with all the dogs she's lived with but she was severely attacked as a puppy and can be fear aggressive- if she is pushed too fast and beyond what she can handle. She has recently come very far and trusts a lot easier, but she should still have slow intros. Since she has come so far with her dog issues, dog owners we pass on the street only know she was attacked because of her scars. She and is extremely loyal, devoted and will love you unconditionally. She is a such a sweet, goofy girl who will make an amazing companion. Although she needs a particular person who understands her needs, she is the best dog ever!
