Adopt a Shiba Inu (medium coat)
Murray the Dog needs a home
Meet Murray. He is a gorgeous male sesame Shiba Inu. He is very playful and loves to play fetch with toys and balls. He is approximately 7-8 years old. Murray is microchipped, current on vaccines and already neutered.
He came to us from the Chula Vista shelter as a stray. He was previously chipped, and the chip takes us back to Okinawa Japan. A typical Shiba, he does take a bit of time to warm up to strangers. He doesn’t like to be handled by strangers so we recommend families that know this breed with no young children. He is untested with Dogs or cats.
This sweet boy is playful, active and enjoys yummy treats. He has a silly smile as he has an under bite. Due to this goofy grin, we decided to name him after our favorite comic.
The Shiba-Inu is a primitive breed, and a living national monument in their native Japan. They are not very affectionate dogs, but are extremely loyal to their family/owner. Similar to the Japanese Akita because of their appearance and fierce loyalty, Shiba-Inus are a great breed to adopt because they are small-sized dogs that are smart and loyal. They are also known to be escape artists and door-bolters. Adopters who have previously owned or are accustomed to this breed will be considered.
If interested in adopting Murray and you can adhere to his health requirements, please contact [email protected]. If you can provide him a loving forever home, please complete an application: www.savingshibasinc.org/Adopt

SPECIAL NEEDS DIET REQUIRED:
Murray has been diagnosed with early start of kidney disease. Here are a few articles about it: https://pets.webmd.com/dogs/kidney-problems-in-dogs#1
Our vet is recommending a special diet for him. For more info: http://www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/canine-diets-for-kidney-failure/
We have him on Honest Kitchen... There are a few articles by those who have pets with kidney disease and they have tried Honest Kitchen. The only downside is that HK is a bit pricey, so we are asking potential adopters to be committed to feeding it, and adhering to this as the diet.
