Adopt a Shar Pei / Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat)

Camelo was born 11/16/2010, and was an owner surrender to a local shelter he met his foster in July 2012. He LOVES training with tiny treats (to keep his handsome waistline not too many), sit, down, roll over, sit and speak. He doesn't like to be surrounded by strange dogs but is ok on walks. His ‘stay’ is pretty good, but could still use some work!

At the moment, Camelo is not getting the time he needs. He loves walks, rides well in the truck, does NOT like to be left alone at the vet. He would like to have a playful female canine plamate. He’s picky about other male dogs (although he has 2 brothers - he really mainly plays with the female in his foster home). He will curl up in a chair to watch her work around the house, doesn't get underfoot, but is “right there” if she prepares to go out the door.

He is healthy, crate trained, house trained, and all around a great companion. This guy loves children, and is even good with cats and chickens! He is also a super ratter! However.... He is respectful but still a bit fearful of being left outdoors for extended periods of time. His foster is now working long days and puts the dogs out so they can potty; as he's gotten older Camelo isn’t very happy about that.

But someone who works a normal 8 hour day would suit him fine. He can be a little gruff on initial meetings, if I let someone in my home barks until he allowed out of his crate to sniff them.

Camelo loves female dogs (as long as they don't hump him). He would prefer to be the only male dog in your home, though. He is fine meeting dogs on leash as long as they don't bite or threaten him. He doesn't look for trouble, and if you see him watching something intently, just speak his name and you’ll have his attention.

The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $250.00, which includes their vaccinations and spay/neuter.

Camelo is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster, not by DFWRM.
