Adopt a Havanese (long coat)
Cuban the Dog needs a home
We will be doing adoptions on Saturday, February 17th and Sunday, February 18th from 12-4pm at Palo Alto Pet Food Express. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.
* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue
This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express from 12-4pm on Sat. Feb. 17th & Sun. Feb. 18th or until adopted. If interested, please fill out an application if you would like the first opportunity to meet prior to the start of the event. (We will pre-approve one home to meet per dog.)
Cuban is a 3 year old Havanese. He weighs about 15lbs. He has a non-shedding coat that is an option for those who have allergies or simply want a dog who doesn't shed. He will require regular grooming. Cuban is the most fun loving, full of life, get you up and going kind of dude. He loves people and he is the first to greet you with a smile and a willing spirit to do anything. He loves to play with other dogs. There is a playful dog in his foster home and they will tussle, wrestle, chase after each other, for hours on end. He doesn't really start it. He more just gets drug into playing and then he doesn't stop.
Cuban is not a barker. Once he's comfortable he does like to "talk" to you if he's trying to get your attention to do something. He throws back his head and let's you know he has something on his mind. It's actually really cute. He also entices and taught his foster brother how to talk. The two of them are a comedy routine.
Cuban lives with a cat. Clearly he has never seen a cat in the home before. He still will follow the cat occasionally and seems to not get who or what the cat is all about. He hasn't shown any aggression but the cat doesn't run either. The cat could care less that Cuban is perplexed and wants to smell him, rub on him and then seems rather shocked that the cat is not a dog.
Cuban likes to play and will grab your hand or arm and pull on you. Young kids would not get it. People who haven't had dog experience would not understand he's playing. He doesn't make a mark, he doesn't bite, but he is mouthy and playful.
Cuban is 100% crate trained. He loves to sleep on the bed though. He will sleep where he is allowed. He will cuddle up all night long. But when he has to go in the morning (sometimes before you really want to get up) then you get a very tiny window to jump up with him or you'll clean up after him. He squats when he goes to the bathroom. He was neutered young b/c he doesn't lift his leg.
Cuban will only be an option for a home that has had a dog in the last 3 years. (Own the dog, not a roommates/family/parents dog). Cuban is only an option for those who are 10 years and older.
