DOG'S DESCRIPTION
Hippo is a sweet guy who is in foster home with children and other dogs and he has excellent manners with both. He is a friendly guy who has just one drawback - Hippo is partially blind and can mostly only see shadows - but it doesn't slow this guy down a bit. He navigates the house with ease and can easily handle stairs and other difficult "obstacles" on his own. He struggles a little bit when it's fully dark, but takes it in stride. Hippo is a special boys with some special needs but he knows there is a special home out there who will love him forever.
Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.
Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (for dogs over 6 months old), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets.
