Adopt a Black Labrador Retriever / Great Dane / Mixed (short coat)

Meet Eclipse, a handsome Black Lab who is very sweet and gentle. Unfortunately, Eclipse has not had the best life in his 5 years. He was picked up as a stray by a rural animal control and taken back to their facility. One picture shows Eclipse in this enclosure - the dog bed is broken and upside down, the dogs are never taken out of their runs to be walked and the runs are even washed with the dogs still inside them! It is not a good place for a dog to land.

When a rescuer saw this dog shaking in the corner of the enclosure, they knew this dog's only chance was to help him get out of there.  Eclipse was microchipped but the owner did not want the dog back, and it was later discovered that the owner had been charged with abuse. One can only imagine the life that Eclipse endured. 

At first Eclipse is shy, but when he is shown kindness and love, his true personality comes out.  Eclipse needs to learn how to trust again, and he desperately wants to be loved, he will warm up more quickly to a woman than a man. He is not aggressive at all, just scared, but he will keep his tail between his legs until he feels more comfortable.

Eclipse will need to be walked on a leash because the rescuers have discovered that he can jump over six foot fences so he cannot be left outside without supervision. With a little patience Eclipse will make a wonderful companion.  Eclipse is a big boy at around 70 pounds, and appears to be a purebred black Lab.

Eclipse was tested with other dogs and even a puppy and he did great. After all that Eclipse probably has gone through there is no aggression in this big boy, just shyness.

Eclipse has been neutered and fully vetted, and just needs a family that will love and appreciate the great dog he is.  A quieter home without young children would probably be best for Eclipse.  Please give this handsome boy a chance, and fill out an application on  him today.
