BIO:   Hi, my name is Kimmie, I am a very special, cute, adorable, little two-year-old girl.  I would like to give you a little info on me.  I was turned into a northern Alabama shelter and I am not sure why.  It was really scary and I was so afraid.

When AADR picked me up I wouldn't come out of my crate.  They had to get me out of the crate and cover me with a blanket to get me to the car.  I first stayed in a home where they put my crate in the kitchen area and I didn't move.  I was given free rein but was not having any part of it. I stayed in my crate where I felt safe. They would have to grab me out couple times a day so I could go outside to potty.

After a week, I headed up to Lancaster PA to my foster home.  Boy, that was scary too.  Even though they put my crate in a convenient place, I was still very scared.  Let me tell you, I wasn't getting out of that crate for anything!   My foster mom, just kept working and working and working with me.

I am proud to say, and my foster mom is sooooo happy, that last week I began to come out of my crate a little, but not for too long.  You won't believe it, but now I spend all day out of my crate unless I choose to go in.  But now, if I don't go in Nick and Rex (my foster mom's dogs) do.  I am now getting along and hanging with the others.  I like being around other pups.  OH, the cat…who cares!  Foster mom’s grandchildren were here (they’re 6 & 7) and I loved them!   Foster mom says it's been a like a light switch.  I went from not wanting contact with anyone and in 3 weeks it's like I lived my whole life here.

I am looking for a home where I can become another family member.  If you’re looking for that kind of dog who goes running up to you coming thru the door, that’s probably something I would not do right away.  But if you show me love and give me time and space, you will be surprised what a loving little girl I can be.

Please, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact foster mom at her email address.  So, give her a shout, she loves to talk.  I will keep you updated and I hope to hear from you soon!  Love, Kimmie

Kimmie’s new family will need to understand that she will need time to adjust to her new home and people.  Once she knows she’s safe, she is loving and loves attention.  Her little personality will blossom.  Kimmie is a happy, happy girl.  She just needs a chance to have the love and life she deserves.

=============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ==============

If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed above.  They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal.

We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions, but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter, there will be an additional $45 fee added for the required Health Certificate.

We will not adopt into the state of CT, RI, NH, ME or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this, you need to take this up with your legislatures.

To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page.  Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3.

If you are interested in adopting this Dachshund please review Read Before You Adopt and then you can complete an Application.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN A RESCUE.

Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers that will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast. We just can't get them from one Coast to the other but some day we hope to have enough volunteers to do that as well.  For now, please look for dogs on your coast.
