Adopt a Boxer (short coat)
Franklin the Dog needs a home
Introducing Franklin. Franklin was given to us because his owner was working too many hours and had very little time to devote to his dog (no comments please). Franklin is only about a year old and this was his 2nd home. Franklin is one adorable boxer and I'm sure as a pup he was totally irresistible. But puppies require a lot of time and work, and boxers are high energy. When we adopt a boxer to a first time boxer owner, the first thing we ask is what they know about the breed and why they want to have one. Boxer owners love their dogs and wouldn't have anything else. People need to understand the breed of dog they are about to own, for their own benefit and the benefit of the animal. Franklin is a good boy, he shouldn't have been in 2 homes in his short life.
Franklin is about 1 year old and a small guy about 45 lbs. He is a little unsure when meeting new people but does come around pretty quickly. He is a smart boy and knows some commands like sit and down. He walks nicely on a leash. Franklin was not socialized much with other dogs so he is afraid of other dogs when they get close. He is not aggressive at all, but will back up and try to run away. We will be working with him at the kennel to socialize and give him good experiences with other dogs. It is important that Franklin experiences the good stuff initially as that will set the tone for future. We want him to learn that other dogs are fun.
Thank you for considering rescue dogs, we look forward to working with you.
