Hound / Mixed (short coat) Dog

Dora the Dog needs a home

Hello, My name is Dora. I have a big heart on my right shoulder. My real heart grows bigger and bigger with every positive interaction I have with people. I am a lovely lady with beautiful almond shaped eyes, soft fur and velvety ears that perfectly frame my face. For all those that know me, I am quick to greet them with a jubilant happy dance. I am very affectionate and love to give kisses. Physical activity is important to me. A home with a secure yard would be ideal. Going on hikes is quite an enjoyable experience and my favorite activity. I am well-behaved in the car.

Don’t let my pretty face fool you; I’m a tough cookie, too. Staff remind me that I don’t always have to act so tough. I don’t like it when people reach for me or when dogs approach me directly.  I prefer a formal introduction. I like my personal space, after all. On walks, staff and volunteers use positive reinforcement to encourage me to ignore strangers and other dogs. Ever eager to please, I have made great improvements.  I need someone willing to continue to use positive reinforcement. Building on the skills that I have already learned will help us to bond easily. Not only am I a people-pleaser, but I am also treat-motivated.  Feel free to ask our behavioral team for some great training tips and tricks.

I am very protective and alert to intruders. At the adoption center I practice this by keeping strangers away from my run.  Staff and volunteer friends tell me that that is not the best way to make new friends and meet the love of my life. Ask to meet me in the play yard. I play nice if I make your acquaintance with a proper introduction. Once I get to know you, I am incredibly loyal and affectionate.

My friends at Brother Wolf have made me part of the One-Year Sponsorship club, this means that my adoption fee is waived, and for one year after my adoption date Brother Wolf will provide food, vet care through a partner vet, and behavior support!

So, now that you know a little about me... let’s go out and play; we have many hiking trails to explore together!

All Brother Wolf animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations before adoption (if species appropriate).

Application and counseling is required prior to all adoptions.

Individuals interested in adopting a puppy are STRONGLY encouraged to download and read this FREE ebook. Even if you've raised puppies in the past, this is an invaluable resource to help make your new addition successful!

Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label.
