Adopt a Shepherd / Hound / Mixed

ACTIVE AND ALERT YOUNG PUP:  1 year old / 28 lbs.  The Mostly Mutts adoption facility is open Mon-Sat 11am-4pm. Some of us are in foster homes so please call 770-272-6888 1st to find out if I’m available to meet during the week. I’m one fun & very active pup who can’t wait to find my forever family! I’m a really good boy—I’m cute & I'm in my own little world sometimes, a little Wyatt world! I LOVE playing with friendly dogs, this is when I am most comfortable & the happiest, so I MUST have a friendly, playful dog in the home; I can be pretty vocal when I play so don't let that startle you. I play hard & rough; chasing & wrestling are so much fun! Make sure your dog likes to play hard too otherwise I could be overwhelming. I will play happily with any toy, especially squeaky ones, but I don't like sharing my toys with other dogs; my foster family is working with me on this, along with the help of a trainer. I will need continued work to teach me to share nicely. I don't mind being in my crate for short times while you run errands & such, but I am a young and hi energy pup so please don't crate me for hours at a time. I am mostly quiet, although I may bark now & then to alert you to strangers nearby.  A home with older kids is probably best for me due to my high energy level. Although I am one year old, I do have a lot of puppy behaviors, & will need ongoing, positive-reinforcement, training. The kind trainers at MM are working with me, & they say I am a quick learner & eager to please. I’m very treat-motivated, so this is great for my training! I need calm & gentle training, by a patient, loving family who will be consistent with me. I am still in the puppy chewing stage so should not be left unsupervised as I may chew something I shouldn't if you're not watching, but that's easy to work with if you supervise & train me; perhaps tether me to you for a while at home while I am learning the rules. I love all walks & walk very nicely on my leash; a harness seems to work well for me. I'd be a good hiking or running companion; I do need a lot of exercise to be a happy dog & a "good boy". I ride well in the car but should be securely tethered otherwise I tend to roam around. I need to have someone who is home a lot during the day to continue my training & because I do like to have a person around. I like all people I have met; I'm happy to be petted, & will climb into your lap sometimes for snuggles, or lay next to you on the couch. I must have a big fenced-in yard & a playful dog friend in my new home, to burn off all my puppy energy & to be a happy dog! I'm smart & can escape doors & gates if you’re not paying attention, so please be cautious.  My potty manners are good when taken out frequently. I’m very cute, very sweet, but often have a worried look on my face...unless I am playing with a doggie friend that is, then I look happy! With some time & gentle training & just the right home & family I’ll grow into a fantastic adult dog that you will be proud of!  Energy level: 6-8. I'm neutered, micro-chipped & up to date on my vaccinations.  My adoption fee is $275.00.
