Adopt a Domestic Long Hair / Calico (long coat)
Marissa the Cat needs a home
Meet Marissa! This gorgeous calico girl is about 4 1/2 years old. She has had a rough go at life so far. She was originally adopted out by Rochester Animal Services. Unfortunately, her owner decided to abandon her and left her on the streets. Rochester rescued her again as a stray, but because of her microchip they realized that she had been adopted before. She was very thin, severely matted, and needed to be shaved down.
Despite what she has been through, she still trusts humans. She is friendly and enjoys being the center of attention. She will approach you looking for love. She’s also good with being held and carried around.
Marissa does have a few quirky personality traits, likely from being neglected. She is very mouthy. She is not aggressive and does not hurt you, but she does like to hold fingers in her mouth. She will also reach out to grab you, not using her claws, just to bring you closer to her. Because of this, she should not be in a home with young children. She also is not a big fan of other cats, so she should be the queen of the house.
Although she’s a friendly and affectionate girl, she has a bit of a ‘grumpy cat’ face. She also tends to grumble when other cats walk by, so the volunteers have affectionately called her “Grumblina”. We all love her silly personality and one-of-a-kind look.
Marissa needs lots of love and TLC. Once she plumps up and her fur grows back in, she will be a totally new cat!
Right now, we are investigating some medical issues with Marissa. Although we don't have a diagnosis yet, we suspect that she may need to be on medication for the rest of her life. Because of this, she is considered special needs.
Marissa will be a special adoption, if you are interested in adopting this beautiful girl, please contact either of her guardians, Brooke or Kaylee, at [email protected] or [email protected] for more information!
Marissa is spayed, current on vaccinations (Rabies and Distemper), has been tested for Feline Leukemia, and is microchipped.
