Boxer / Hound / Mixed (short coat) Dog

Fred the Dog needs a home

Please contact Lisa ([email protected]) for more information about this pet.

Fred is 2 years old and still has a lot of puppy in him. He will lay on the couch or in the bedroom and chew on his bones and toys. He loves to snuggle with his foster mom. He is a kisser and has appointed himself as official canine face and ear cleaner. He is house-trained and is finally learning "sit" - the spring in his butt made this difficult at first! He is crate-trained, but at first he did not like it and would bark when he was in there. He is getting more relaxed with crate training now. Fred has not been destructive in the house though, except for once mistaking a library book for one of his toys, so a crate might not be so necessary.

Fred does not seem to like to be face-to-face with some dogs. Although two dogs meeting face-to-face is never a good idea, it does happen, so more socialization and practice meeting strange dogs needs to be done with Freddie. Although he is expanding his comfort with dogs, he should be the only dog in his home since he doesn't really like to share space with other canines. He would also prefer any children in his home be old enough to understand and respect his boundaries when necessary.

Fred needs work getting used to the outside world. He is terrified and doesn't want to get out of the car, so he needs lots of gentle socialization and good meetings with people. A fenced yard is the best idea for him right now, since he can be scared of walking in new places.

Fred is making slow and steady progress learning to be more comfortable in the world. He is such a sweet and gentle dog who needs the right patient and compassionate home to blossom in to his best self.  Please contact Fred's foster mom today to learn more!

All Brother Wolf animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations before adoption (if species appropriate).

Application and counseling is required prior to all adoptions.

Individuals interested in adopting a puppy are STRONGLY encouraged to download and read this FREE ebook. Even if you've raised puppies in the past, this is an invaluable resource to help make your new addition successful!

Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label.
