Blossom the Dog needs a home
Blossom and Tootsie are young, small Dachshund girls who are very bonded and must be adopted together. They came to us as owner surrenders and we don't have a lot of background information. Tootsie is the more shy of the two, but Blossom is the skittish one- she is working at learning to be comfortable with people, but she still tries to avoid being picked up and gets stiff and uncomfortable at first when being held. Once she has some time to decompress and feel secure where she is and with the people who are handling her, she does become more comfortable, but Blossom is a work in progress. Tootsie is coming out of her shell more quickly and adapts more easily to handling, but she is also relluctant to engage with people at first. Both are now up to date on vaccinations and spayed, as well as microchipped. Tootsie is heartworm negative, but unfortunately Blossom tested positive. We are utilizing the "slow kill" process to eliminate the infestation, and at her young age Blossom should have no lasting problems. These are young, beautiful girls. They should have many wonderful years ahead of them, and they deserve the love, time, patience, and care that will hellp them live those years as comfy, happy pets. We need them to go to a very secure home with a predictable routine to help them in their transition. For the same reason, we feel that there needs to be an experienced owner available for enough time to work with them, and no small children. Please don't write off beautiful babies like Blossom and Tootsie just because they need some time and love!
