Adopt a Chocolate Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat)
Copper the Dog needs a home
We will be doing adoptions on Saturday, February 17th and Sunday, February 18th from 12-4pm at Palo Alto Pet Food Express. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.
* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue
This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express from 12-4pm on Sat. Feb. 17th & Sun. Feb. 18th or until adopted. If interested, please fill out an application if you would like the first opportunity to meet prior to the start of the event. (We will pre-approve one home to meet per dog.)
Copper is a 1 year old Chocolate Lab mix. She is full grown and weighs 49lbs. She was relinquished to our rescue from a home that had her in a small cage enclosure that was covered with filth. Poor girl. But she has that amazing spirit and you'd never know where she's been before as she's happy as can be in her foster home. She gets along with everyone she has met. She's a fun, spunky girl without being over the top energetic. Yes, she has energy. Some 1 year old Labs are out of control and that's not our girl but she's not a couch potato either. She's appropriately playful with the dogs at the dog park but if you can't go one day she's not going to be destroying your home.
Copper does like a clean crate. She's not opposed to having a place for herself. She gets along with other dogs in her foster home. She likes to play in the morning and then some playtime in the afternoon. That does her good. She could be an option to go to the dog park or doggy day camp. She's not likely to be the dog who goes to doggy day camp and needs to go two days in a row. She'll be pretty worn out after one day.
Copper has a very sweet disposition and she's loves to be petted and hugged. She is not a barker. If she barks, there is a reason. She has proven to be very smart and listens well. She is a dog who will take to training very easily. She's ready for all that a new home has to offer her.
Copper is an option for a home that hasn't had a dog recently but has done their homework to prepare for a dog. If there are children they need to be over the age of 8.
