Adopt a Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed

Make way for Lucinda! This worthy dog is one of our favorites. We'd like to see her come out of our shelter like a rose, and find a great family. Don't go all the way to the Crescent City to find your next dog. Lucinda is a sweet, fun dog who would love a chance to meet your family. Lucinda has lived in a home before and knows her way around. She has solid leash manners, and should make a great walking partner. And after the walk, she'll just ask for water. But take care walking her along the side of the road, because she loves going for car rides and wants to jump into back seats. And then you'll have to roll down the windows, because she loves to feel the breeze! Lucinda also loves to get in some exercise by playing fetch. You'll give her the big red sun blues if you don't throw her a few tennis balls every day. Is the night too long for her? Hardly. Lucinda likes to stay somewhat active with walk and play time, but she also enjoys her beauty sleep. She's got a medium energy level that will be a great match for a somewhat active home. Did we mention that Lucinda is a people lover? You can expect some passionate kisses from her. Who can blame her? She just wanted to see you so bad! She's got a great disposition; she seems to always be in a good mood (and on the hunt for her next belly rub). We think she would be a good candidate to share a home with kids. Lucinda enjoys learning new things and is in the Total Obedience Program. The Total Obedience Program (TOP) is modelled after the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test. As a TOP dog, Lucinda has a personalized training plan and works with a volunteer trainer several times a week to help her learn the skills to become the best dog she can be! She is learning skills like sit and down, walking nicely on leash, sitting calmly when approached by strangers or other dogs, staying in a sit or down until told "free," and coming when called. Once Lucinda successfully completes all the skills on her training plan she will be considered TOP Dog Ready! Lucinda is working hard to become a wonderful pet and as a part of APA's Total Obedience Program you can work with APA staff to continue to build a training relationship with Lucinda after adoption and master all the TOP dog skills together.
