Adopt a Terrier / Mixed (medium coat)

Seriously, how adorable is this scruffy little face?!  She’s honestly even cuter in real life.  Although her hair looks wiry, it’s actually feels soft and silky. Billy is a wonderfully sweet and gentle puppy. She is a five month old terrier mix and she weighs about 20 pounds. She’s very submissive and loves being held on her back like a baby and having her tummy rubbed – she just goes limp and may even fall asleep.  It’s kind of hypnotic and excellent therapy after a rough day.

Billie is wonderful with other dogs. She hasn’t been cat tested, but we aren’t worried about her with cats. She doesn’t seem to have much of a prey drive and most cats have no problem teaching a young puppy who’s the boss. 

Billie would do well in a home with children. She thrives on attention, so the more interaction she gets the better. She does still have sharp puppy claws and sharp puppy teeth, and a puppy’s lack of awareness of how they feel on human skin. So we offer our normal caution about putting puppies in homes with very small children. But the puppy phase is short and with parents who supervise interactions until she learns some basic manners, she will be a rock star. 

We anticipate that Billie will be 40-45 pound when full grown, so if you’re looking for a sweet, loving, solid dog that isn’t huge, but is going to be big enough to be a “real dog.” Billie is your girl.

***Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers and we require a home check for each of our adoptable pets prior to them going to their new homes, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family further than 60 miles from Charlotte is responsible for finding a representative of a rescue local to them that is willing to perform the home check. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to meet/pick up the pet as soon as the application is approved.***
