KIKI the Dog needs a home
MEET KIKI! She is courtesy posted for Maricopa County Animal Care & Control.
Approximately 4 years old and looking for a furever home!
Kiki is a 4 Yr old fun loving happy energy girl! She's ready for a full on jog with a smile on her face from the moment she leaves her kennel. You can't help but smile when you're with her. Here are notes from her Day Foster mom:
She tries her best to hop into the car but she appreciates a friendly boost. She takes a minute to settle in then she's ready for her job of co-pilot. She enjoys watching out all of the windows and taking in all the sights.
During our 4-mile hike we walked along the edge of the pond, discovered giant ducks, met a very nice lady, explored the top of a mountain with a pyramid and enjoyed our time together. The whole time Kiki stayed engaged in her environment, showed perfect manners when the lady asked to pet her and kept perfect pace the entire 4 miles. She showed that she’s agile on the rocks, enjoys exploring and takes your queues very well on the trail. A perfect hiking partner!
Our fun continued after we shared some burgers and fries. She a perfect lunch date, good company and good manners. We stopped by a park with wide open grassy area, a playground, more ducks and dogs running their fence lines. Since there were no other dogs in the park we had the opportunity to use our long lead and Kiki LOVED having some extra room to RUN! She LOVES to run, not just jog! She is so athletic! As we switched back to our regular leash a person went riding by on their bike with their dog. Kiki just stood there and watched with no reaction. We walked the park passing another very high energy dog running his fence line which caught her attention. She began to respond to his high energy so we went another direction. Kiki seems to do much better with calmer, more polite energy not directed at her in public settings.
As we began to leave the park a mom asked if she and her two young sons could pet her. Kiki was aloof for a brief moment then turned and put her body into the mom allowing her and the boys to pet her. Kiki was appreciative once again of the calm and polite manner of the people interacting with her. Before we left Kiki surprised me with what she discovered… the slide on the playground. I allowed her to investigate it. She climbed the stairs, stood there for a moment and slid down on her own. She did this multiple times, making me laugh each time!
We ended our day with a stop at the pet store. She didn’t seem as enthusiastic about her visit to the store as the parks. She was gracious and showed good manners. During our day together, Kiki would sit with her eyes closed in the car but didn’t lay down until we were on our way back. She truly doesn’t want to waste a moment of life!
Overall, Kiki is a confident, smart, engaged, athletic girl who enjoys the company of the people who take the time to get to know her. She appreciates calm and polite energy and returns the same. She is much more than what you see by simply visiting her at her kennel, she is a true treasure for an active, adventurous person!
Kiki is bossy and pushy with other dogs-- we think she would most likely do best as the only dog in the home.
Here's Kiki's 2nd bio from another Day Foster Mom:
"She’s Sooo Much More Than You See! Kiki is the girl people walk by in her kennel assuming she is a low energy, couch potato, only goes on walks kind of girl. She doesn’t cause much of a fuss in her kennel, she can have a bit of a serious look on her face and simply waits her turn for attention.
So PLEASE… I invite you to MEET Kiki!!! I had the absolute pleasure of spending the day away from the shelter with her!!!
Before starting our day together on the trail (as I do with all my friends) we stopped for some breakfast. As I was handing her bites of her breakfast biscuits she was taking them ever so politely and still watching out the window curiously to see where we were going. When we arrived at the trails I saw that she had delicately left all the egg in one spot of the back seat while eating the rest. I couldn’t help but laugh, she was soooo polite about “making a mess”!!! LOL
She was sooooo happy to get out, stretch her legs, enjoy the brisk morning air, discover ginormous ducks, walk the edge of the pond and HIKE!!! We met a very nice lady who asked to pet her and Kiki was very sweet while the lady pet her and asked about pit bulls. What a wonderful ambassador!
We hiked / walked the trails for about 4 miles and Kiki showed me that she is nimble, agile and built for a steady pace while staying engaged in her environment. She is the perfect friend to take along as she keeps a smile on her face while you talk to her about your day. She’s an amazing friend!
We stopped by a park to enjoy the open grassy area in the afternoon sun. as we were walking a mom with two young sons asked to pet Kiki. She was a little aloof at first, then turned and pressed her body into the mom as if to say hello. She was so calm and polite as the mom explained to her young sons how to approach and pet other people’s dogs. I was so proud of her!!!
Before we left the park Kiki discovered the playground! This is when she showed interest in the slide, I let her investigate it and the fun began! Oh my goodness, I’m not sure who was having more fun… she went back up multiple times to slide back down and I laughed each time!!! Kiki is a girl who truly Carpe Diem!!
Kiki is a confident girl who appreciates calm polite energy around her and she returns it ten times over. She is searching for a home where she is the only pet however she has a personality that will surely be enough for the whole family to love! She is athletic, loves to run, hike, be outdoors with her people! Kiki is ready to live life… TODAY!
