Adopt a Chihuahua (short coat)

FOSTER LOCATION:  Boise, ID

Millie is a 1 year old Chihuahua mix who was brought into Fuzzy Pawz Rescue’s care from a local shelter where she was terrified of the environment. Once she came to her foster home, she lit right up and was very friendly. She is energetic and outgoing.

This cutie came to the shelter with a horrific case of fleas; she was treated and is now flea free but does have some temporary balding due to flea dermatitis.  However nothing is keeping Millie down and she loves to play, despite not feeling 100% now, she still enjoys all the toys and loves to chase a ball. Her foster Mom suspects that once she feels better she will be a very active and playful dog. She also loves to chew toys and her forever home will need to provide lots of toys to keep her from chewing on items she shouldn’t be. A fenced yard is a must too, so she can run around and chase a ball safely. Once play time is over though, Millie becomes a snuggly lap dog with plenty of kisses to go around.

While her foster mom hasn’t seen her around children, we do know that Millie is great with other small dogs and is really great with cats. She is potty trained and does well in her crate. However, she doesn’t know many commands like “sit” or anything, but she loves treats so she would likely learn quickly. Millie also walks decently on a leash.

Like we said above, she does have some flea dermatitis (the fleas are long gone) which has resulted in dry itchy skin and some hair loss. This will heal and she should make a full recovery to a normal dog coat within a few months. She has a special medicated shampoo that will aid in her healing, which will go with her to her new home. Her foster mom successfully bathed her in the kitchen sink, and while Millie protested a bit, it was doable.

We think Millie would do best in a home that has other dogs and/or cats, and can provide lots of toys, exercise and mental stimulation.

Millie is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and otherwise in great health.
