Domestic Short Hair (short coat) Cat

Molly the Cat needs a home

Are you looking for a housemate that doesn't demand attention?  I am a quiet, reserved cat.

Molly is being fostered in a multi-cat foster home, but would love to have a forever home where she can keep you company.  She arrived as a very scared, anti-social momma cat.  With patience she has gained confidence, has come out of hiding and enjoys being pet for short periods of time and will occasionally purr.  She would benefit having an experienced cat guardian who will have patience and be able to read her when she warns you have crossed her comfort zone.  Now she’ll just walk away and hide under the bed.

She is independent and enjoys sitting at the screen door or the front window and looking outside.  She gets along with the other cats, but the fewer cats in the house, the more outgoing she is. Molly does not like to compete for attention.

Molly likes chasing and catching the Da Bird feather teaser and the laser light.  I have caught her talking to and carrying soft toys.

Molly no longer hides under the bed, but likes to lounge on the bed or in or on her "cat cave" on the bed.  If there’s a lump in the bed, it’s her.  She is not a lap cat.  She spends most of her time in the quiet bedroom or on the kitty condo in the living room.    If she's on her feet and you walk towards her, she will walk the other way. When she is laying down I can walk straight to her without her running.  Molly enjoys her head and shoulders rubbed and will relax.  I can now pet her from head to tail. I've been working on touching her feet.  Upon returning from vacation she surprised me by walking a foot across the bed and presenting her head for love.  She recently has walked to me when I am on the couch for attention.  Molly will now walk across the room for a freeze-dried chicken treat.

Routine is for her to present her head at meal-time to get head rubs and then food.

Molly does not like to be picked up.  When she is in her bed, use the bed to make a "kitty taco" and then move her.   With patience and baby steps I have been able to skip the cat bed and pick her up and move her.

I think Molly would enjoy being in a single cat home where she would not have to compete for attention.  She can be playful when the other cats are not near her.
