Howdy y’all, my name is Kissable, Huggable, Lovable, Unbelievable Howdy, but my friends call me Howdy!
I was a product of bad breeding. I was born with a condition called Spina Bifida (don’t worry my mom will explain it later), unfortunately it has left me with long term health issues, but I am still the happiest boy on earth! When my first people found out about my condition, they didn’t want me anymore and dumped me to a local shelter. Don’t worry, out with those people and in with my new peeps!
Like foster mom said, I am the happiest, most friendly, social boy you will ever meet, I don’t let my problems get me down! I currently live in a house with foster brothers and sisters and boy do we love to play! We play chase, we play with toys, basically if it involves playing, we are doin’ it! I love to play with my foster kitties too, they are super cool! They even play with me sometimes, I love it! I love to be outside, playing and going for walks and hikes in the woods too, don’t ya just love the outside?
I am also learning new stuff while I am staying at my foster home, I am super smart! I know sit, down, come, wait, I working on stay, but I am getting. I am pretty much an A+ student! I also know all about the crate and I sleep in there at night, and I stay super quiet until it’s time to wake up. See smart as a darn whip I tell ya!
I love people, all people! I meet everyone with a wagging tail and my award winning smile! Foster mom says that I could go home with just about anyone, even kids! More people to play with, more people to love me, what more could a guy as for!?
Now a word from my foster mom-Howdy is about 8 months old, neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention and weighs about 35 pounds. Howdy was diagnosed with a condition called Spina Bifida- a congenital defect where the vertebrae in the spine don’t develop properly and allows part of the spinal cord to squeeze through the gap in the spine. The defect can cause a variety of symptoms but in Howdy’s case it caused him to be fecal and urinary incontinent. Howdy was seen by a neurologist in Ohio who confirmed his condition with an MRI. When Howdy was transferred to NY he was seen again by a Neurologist at Cornell University to make sure we were doing everything we could for Howdy. They confirmed his diagnosis, but unfortunately there is nothing that can be done for Howdy, the Neurologist is confident that Howdy’s condition will not worsen. Howdy is very well conditioned to wearing diapers and belly bands to help his urinary incontinence, his belly bands need to be changed every few hours to prevent urine scald to his skin and prevent urinary tract infections, Howdy does ok in the same diaper through the night. Howdy does not wear any diapers of belly bands when he is outside. Unfortunately his fecal incontinence is only managed by cleaning up after him. Howdy was also seen and evaluated by a Physical Therapist and did 2 weeks of boarding and extensive physical therapy to make sure his muscle strength are the best they can be. All of Howdy’s reports and scans are available for any potential adopter to review with their veterinarian.
Now back to Howdy-well if you think you are the perfect home for me, shoot my mom an application so we can review it and make sure that you and I are a match made in heaven!
Howdy is being fostered in Bloomfield, NY
