Oscar II the Dog needs a home
Oscar is gentle, accepting, calm, and loving. He wants attention and enjoys affection but doesn't demand it. He will be a happy lap dog if you care to provide one for him but it's perfectly all right if you don't. Almost anything I do with Oscar is OK with him. Although he's mostly Dachshund, he has a noticeable amount of Basset Hound. That may explain his somewhat un-Dachshund-like demeanor. The Basset Hound blood also shows up in his baying bark, somewhat droopy eyes, big thick feet, and stout body. And unlike most Dachshunds he infrequently gives licks. He watches me a lot, I believe, trying to understand what I'm thinking. He's smart enough to figure it out sometimes. He is more intelligent than average and understands quickly. He does not seem to have been obedience trained, but he should be easy to train. He always comes when called. He eagerly accepts treats as a training reward but does not lunge at them. He gets along with the other dogs in the family and the other dogs readily accept him. He's cautious around strange people and dogs and may bark at them until he becomes used to them. He is not afraid of new things and is cooperative when being examined or having his harness put on. He likes to go for walks but can get overheated on long walks on hot days.
