Adopt a Brittany / Mixed (medium coat)
VA/Ranger the Dog needs a home
Hi!
My name is Ranger. I came from a hoarding situation in Alabama along with 30 other dogs. Some nice people from NBRAN took me in. I have been living with the best foster parents and 2 Brittany brothers in VA. Here is what my foster mama, has to say about me.
Ranger is young and is still learning good house manners. He’s very curious about everything as his current foster family is his first house experience. He is a quick learner though. He will steal a slipper or anything interesting, given the opportunity; he responds quickly to a sharp “NO.
Ranger LOVES to play with humans and other dogs! Close quarter play with humans includes nibbling, but he’s learning not to do this. He plays nicely and tirelessly with the other dogs. He’s quickly submissive if the others tell him to knock it off! Ranger needs a yard large enough for daily running and play. It would be best for Ranger to have a fur sister or brother to burn off his energy.
Ranger has walked nicely on the leash when alone with his humans. When other dogs are present, he just wants to hop and play. Again, he is learning.
With his crate in the same room as his humans and other dogs, Ranger sleeps quietly in a large crate from 10 to 6:30-7am. He keeps his crate dry, but he must be lead to the door quickly after the long night. He is outside often during the day so he has done very well with potty training!
Ranger will initially shy away from new people and even objects that are new to him. He needs a little coaxing at times. He is close to 50lbs and maybe overwhelming for small children or very elderly folks. However, he is a sweet boy and seems to love everyone and everything, given the chance. At a recent holiday gathering, he did fabulously with a large group of mingling people, including very a active 3 and 5 year old.
Ranger is not cat tested and not interested in chasing squirrels, birds or other small wild creatures, so a cat may be just fine too.
Ranger will be a wonderful addition to any active family! However, he will need an owner that will continue to be patient and nurturing to him. On going training, will be a must. If you are interested in opening your heart and home, please fill out an application. Ranger can be transported up to 1,400 miles through our Canine Railroad with the adopter taking the last 100 miles. Contact Leslie Trenta @ [email protected] or 703-623-7807 if you have questions. Ranger's adoption fee is $350.
