Adopt a Chihuahua (short coat)
Milton the Dog needs a home
If you are interested in adopting an ARPO pet, please visit our website, for details about our fees and process, and to complete our Pre-Qualification Form. ARPO limits adoptions to within 50 miles of Indianapolis. We do not have a shelter; all pets are in volunteer foster homes.
Milton W is about a 8 year old stray Chihuahua who was brought into Indianapolis Animal Care. They thought he was hit by a car because he had several bad abrasions, yelped and tried to bite when trying to touch his back, and carrying one of his legs. Vet did x-rays and found no broken bones (YAY!) Milton needed some time to heal his physical wounds. Milton has now healed and has become a very good and loving dog craving for attention and love.
Milton probably had a rough life as he is scared of strangers but once he know it's OK and can trust you, he is just fine. He gets along fine with other dogs and loves to play. Milton also has guarding issues with his food and prefers to eat alone. Good thing he does not mess with the other dogs food if he should finish first. We don't know how he is with cats. Because of his diva personality, he should not be in a home with small children.
He is housebroken but foster family has to keep a routine for potty breaks and has had no issues once that was implemented. Therefore he should be in a family in which he isn't left alone for long periods of time. He doesn't like to be picked up but will tolerate if he has to be. If he can go to a lap he's happy.
Please complete a pre-qualification application if you would like to meet Milton.
