Doc the Cat needs a home
Doc was born in a feral cat colony in a residential neighborhood. He was polite yet shy to the caregiver who fed him each day for the first years of his life. One day his caregiver noticed that Doc was developing a rapidly growing tumor on his forehead, the growth soon expanding to hang over his eye. Concerned, rescuers worked together to catch Doc and have the growth surgically removed. The tumor was found to be malignant, but so thoroughly excised that the vets believe it is very unlikely to return. While recovering from surgery, his rescuers were surprised to find that Doc was actually friendly and enjoyed interacting with humans. Because he was so comfortable in a warm home, it was decided that Doc would be placed into a loving adoptive home rather than returned to his former colony.
Doc approaches the world with curiosity and thoughtfulness. He has a calm and welcoming demeanor, earning him acceptance with everyone he meets. Cuddling is his favorite thing – if there is an open lap, he wants to be resting in it, purring like a fire engine. When picked up to be held, he throws his whole body into your arms, hugging back in the most tender way. Doc loves playing with toys, snuggling with people and cat friends, and gazing out the window.
Doc is about 3.5 years old, vaccinated, neutered, and feline leukemia negative. He uses the litter pan without issue, allows for nail trims, and loves being brushed. He enjoys the company of cats and dogs after an introductory period. Doc adored meeting a child who visited his rescuers home, and would be best suited with the quiet energy of an older kid. Doc and Reuben are a bonded pair who would like to stay together.
