This Frito is no Bandito!
He's just such a HAPPY dog, and he's sure to bring a smile to everyone's face! He ran into a bit of tough luck and lost a leg, but he's back up on three feet and raring to go! He wants to meet and play with every dog he sees and is submissive to new dogs. He was great with a group of Fifth Graders that came to play with him - he was happy-hyper, and he had a BLAST! Cats are an unknown, but he loves the little dogs in the pen next to him. He is crate trained and walks on a leash. He will need house training as he's currently living in the shelter. He LOVES car rides and rides crated. Frito's such a friendly fellow, affectionate, outgoing and even-tempered. He likes playing with toys and loves a good game of fetch! He loves to run, go for walks, going places and meeting new people. When all this activity is done, he's just as content to settle down with you for some cuddling. He's smart, treat and toy motivated, and eager to please - a great combo for acing obedience classes! It'll give you a chance to get in some quality bonding time, too! A fenced yard is the ideal, safe place for your pup to play that rousing game of fetch, but if it's not an option then daily leash walks and opportunities to play off-leash in a dog park or doggie daycare setting are the next best thing. Dogs of all ages also benefit from mental exercise - think puzzle toys and games.
Frito's a goofy, happy boy who won't let a missing leg keep him on the sidelines! If you think you can keep up with him, fill out an application today! And get your throwing arm in shape for all those games of fetch you'll be playing together!
Frito's Back Story: Frito was found near our partner's facility in Jackson, Mississippi, with a broken leg and covered in cigarette burns. It turns out that his leg had been shot and the bone was broken from the bullet. Unfortunately his leg was pretty badly infected, and it needed to be amputated. He has recovered well from the amputation in October 2017 and doesn't let anything keep him down! He is now ready to find his special forever home!
Medical Note: Frito has fully recovered from the amputation surgery and has no activity restrictions. He still has another bullet in his side that does not appear to cause him any issues. Please research tripod dogs and longer-term considerations before submitting your application on Frito. One good source is: https://www.acvs.org/small-

**Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
