AA-Anna the Dog needs a home

Please contact Tonya Griffith ([email protected]) for more information about this pet.

Pictures updated 3/6/12, face picture updated 4/22/12, and posted 2/16/12.  This litter of 4 puppies was born under the house of an elderly man.  He was able to get them into his fenced area at the beginning of February 2012 by placing their food dish inside, but couldn't afford to keep them, and is unable to care for them.  Our rescue is full, but we have placed them in our adoption center 2/24/12 hoping they will get adopted quickly, since we have no other space available for them right now.  The puppies were a little shy at first since he didn't know they were under his house for awhile, but are being handled daily, are already playing with toys, making great progress in coming up to us, playing with us, and should become very good family pets.  On 3/26/12, I have been able to get the remaining three puppies to take treats from my hand, and they are putting their paws up on me almost as if to shake hands.  Brushing, petting, treats, and can food can help them bond with a new family.  The mother also has been helping bring them to us.  They have been started on heartworm prevention, and other maintenance worm medicine.  The mother weighs 38.7 pounds, and looks like a Red Terrier mix.  I had two vet clinics suggest this puppy looks like she has Golden Retreiver in her.

Anna is the last pup from the litter that did not get adopted, and she stays with her mother under our store room that has about 2 feet to crawl under, because they were born under the elderly man's house.  They come out more when the other rescue dogs are put in their crates for awhile.  Anna is bonded with her mother, and would probably need to be adopted with her mother in order to stay at a new environment.  They would also need a place to feel secure so they won't try to escape like one of the other pups did after getting adopted.  Anna comes up to me for treats and will turn around and roll over when she wants to be pet, still a little unsure at times.  She will even come up and nudge me or my hand.
