Adopt a Pekingese (long coat)

Pekingese (long coat) Dog

Toffee the Dog needs a home

We will be doing adoptions on Saturday, February 17th and Sunday, February 18th from 12-4pm at Palo Alto Pet Food Express.  All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.

* If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. * We do not have a facility. All dogs live in foster homes. Arrangements to meet dogs occur after an approved application has been accepted. * We do not ship our dogs for any reason. * Our adoption fee is $400 for each dog/puppy. * If it is on a weekend of our adoptions, follow us on @DPSRescue on Twitter to get real time updates on our adoptions. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescue

This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express from 12-4pm on Sat. Feb. 17th & Sun. Feb. 18th or until adopted. If interested, please fill out an application if you would like the first opportunity to meet prior to the start of the event. (We will pre-approve one home to meet per dog.)

Toffee is a 6 year old purebred Pekingese. She is a tiny girl. She was an owner surrender from a senior woman who was unable to care for her any longer. She had been well loved. She is absolutely the sweetest, most loving little girl. She comes when she is called. She just wants to be a lap dog and be with her people. She's not a barker at all. (We're not sure she does bark!). She's an excellent apartment or condo dog.

Toffee has scoliosis. It's similar to that in humans. The difference is there isn't a "treatment or cure". She just lives out her life. She walks a bit funny but it doesn't stop her at all. She came to us on the thin side and we're working to bulk her up. She had a full coat that was fairly matted so she now has the cute little Lion cut. But it also showed us that she definitely needs more food! So she's on a regular xtra feeding schedule.

Toffee gets along well with other dogs. She lives with big and small dogs. She doesn't care about anyone. She could happily coexist with just about any other dog. She isn't so much into playing. She prefers to just hang out with her people and her foster canines. But she'll sit outside and sunbathe while her foster siblings run around...She just hasn't figured out why they run when they could easily just hang out and chill.

Toffee lives with a dog savvy cat.

Toffee is an option for a home that has not had a dog before as long as they have a plan of action for grooming and raising a dog in general. If there are children they need to be over the age of 6.

**Not all of our dogs go to each adoption event. We want to make sure if you are interested in a dog that we have the dog at adoptions but that can only happen if you fill out an application ahead of time and are pre-approved. (Generally this must happen prior to the weekend)

**If you are wanting to submit an application within 24 hours of an event, please print off the application and bring with you as well as submitting it. You may still submit it and if time and volunteers permit, we will contact you. Most applications submitted the weekend of adoptions are not responded to until after the adoption weekend.
