Adopt a Chihuahua (short coat)

United Hope for Animals (UHA) is a volunteer group and does not have a facility for animals.  This pet is part of our Shelter Support Program at the Baldwin Park Shelter. For more information about the pet, the adoption process, or our program please contact the Volunteer Adoption Coordinator listed below.

Because animals are adopted/rescued daily, please also check the United Hope for Animals Facebook page to see if an animal is still available OR call the Baldwin Park Shelter at 626-962-3577. When inquiring about an animal, please reference the animal’s ID number. This will enable the volunteer or Baldwin Park employee to locate the status of the pet. Thank you for supporting rescue.

Description:

A5149016 Penny is a loving 1-year-old copper-with-white female Chihuahua puppy who came in to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center as a stray from La Puente on February 6th. Weighing 8 lbs, Penny is gentle, calm, and, sadly at such a young age, blind. She needs a rescue or adopter immediately as it is terrifying for a blind dog to be in a shelter environment. However, being blind is something dogs adapt to all the time. We have at least one volunteer who has had a blind dog, and they are amazing at finding their way around a new house and making their way right into your heart. And this girl is so trusting and sweet it just breaks your heart. Despite not being able to see she was comfortable in her handler’s arms and leaned right in for love and attention. Penny has such a pretty coat and a cute white blaze right down her face. We hope someone will come here for her soon and give her the safe and loving home she so deserves, where she’ll make a wonderful indoor pet and companion.
