Adopt a Pit Bull Terrier (short coat)
PEARL the Dog needs a home
Pearl came to the shelter because she was very ill and had not eaten in a long time. After a Veterinary Exam, she was diagnosed with pyometra which is a uterus infection. Her uterus has been removed and she has been under treatment with antibiotics and is now ready to find a forever home. Pearl can be shy with new people and stand offish with men, we recommend the entire family coming down to the shelter to meet her to ensure it is a good fit. We do not know how Pearl will do with dogs, cats or children. Here at the shelter, Pearl keeps her kennel cleaned so it is believed she is house broken but will need a refresher course in her new home.
Pearl has been temperament tested during her stay at the shelter. The shelter staff has found that Pearl is possessive of her toys and her food. Because of this Pearl must go to a home WITHOUT children. Preferably somebody experienced with this type of behavior. Pearls guarding behavior appears to be manageable, potential adopters are strongly urged to consult a dog trainer or behaviorist to assist in properly learning how to manage her behavior. During the temperament test it was also found that Pearl does well with other dogs and has great greeting manners. Potential adopters should always bring in all members of the family for a mutual greeting before adoption.
