Adopt a German Shepherd Dog
Kita the Dog needs a home
***KITA***
Hello! My name is Kita, and I'm a pure-bred German Shepherd, about 63 pounds. I am 8 years old, spayed, and full of energy. My person will be moving soon into a retirement community and cannot take me with her, so I need a new family/person to watch over. I love people, I love children, and I do like other dogs, I currently live with a basset hound, and I know how puppies are. However, I recently discovered that I do not like cats. I do love my toys especially my Kong and stuffed bunny, and I live for a good game of fetch. I love walks and I don't pull on-leash, but if I see another dog across the road or on the sidewalk, I get a little huffy and reactive. To help, my walker just distracts me with treats and requests to sit or lie down or shake--and I forget about that other dog. What is weird is that I don't care about other dogs when I'm in my yard and I see them through the fence. They bark at me, but I shrug and get back to my own business. So, yes, I'm used to a fenced yard but I'm not used to a kennel as I can be left alone in the home with no issues or accidents. As of January 26th, I am up to date on all shots including heartworm medication, and my blood work results were clean. They even took x-rays which showed healthy knees and hips. The vet did notice some arthritis in my spine, so she started me on a glucosamine supplement--but that doesn't slow me down from playing and rolling with my toys. While I'm very sad to have to leave my person, I'm excited to meet a new family who will give me lots of exercise, love, attention, and a warm bed (or couch) to lay on. If you are interested in having a fun-loving, sweet, and adorable German Shepherd, please fill out an application. I would love to meet you.
