Everyone, meet Mel. Mel’s full name is Meliodas, which no one can pronounce so we are just calling him Mel. Mel is what we call a “Good Ole Dog” which is a reflection on his temperament, not his age since he is a young dog. He is a dog who would be a great buddy to someone and could go anywhere with him or her. Mel is a Pyr mix who is on the smaller side and might be mixed with some sort of retriever. He is great on a leash, knows the command to sit and is learning the touch command. Mel has never met a stranger either human or canine; he considers everyone a friend he hasn’t met before. This boy is laid back and only really gets energized when he sees a treat in his near future, so even though he may have retriever in his DNA, he has more of a Pyr’s energy level with a retriever’s easy trainability. Whatever breed(s) Mel has in him, they combined to make him an easy-going Good Ole Dog who is looking for that perfect easy-going Good Ole Home!

About Us: National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a not-for-profit, tax-exempt coalition of Pyr rescuers and rescue groups. We save Pyrs and Pyr mixes across the country and place them in approved foster homes so we know how they will interact with
your
family. Please consider adopting or fostering. Every dog who is fostered or adopted makes room for another Pyr coming out of a kill shelter. Prior to adoption, NGPR dogs are fostered for a minimum of two weeks (usually more), spayed or neutered and fully vetted. Dogs coming from out of area are certified with a USDA health certificate before going to their new homes. Our rescuers adhere to the highest placement standards and will take back any dog whose adoption does not succeed. Visit www.nationalpyr.org to learn more about us, our mission and our breed.
