Adopt a American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat)
Mozart the Dog needs a home
Hi everyone, I'm Mozart! I was left at a high kill shelter in Brooklyn NY the end of December. I was there a little over a week before a human came across my pic on Facebook, where I was listed to be killed that day only because they were at "maximum capacity". She couldn't allow that to happen & was put in contact w/Looking Glass rescue for help getting me out of there immediately. The wonderful people at Looking Glass helped her get approved to foster & had me transported to her house. But I didn't let my situation bring me down. I exited the van & greeted her with kisses & a wagging tail!
Let me tell you a little about myself. I'm a handsome year & half neutered pit mix, approximately 65lbs. I’m a big puppy who loves dogs of all sizes, and so far, every person I meet. I have no food/toy aggression. My Foster mom fell in love with me right away, but unfortunately she cannot adopt me as she already has 3 fur babies at home. Someone taught me sit & paw, but they forgot to teach me basic manners like walking on a leash & that jumping/chewing/grabbing are not nice. So, my foster mom is working w/me on these items now. I'm such a happy/energetic dog, I always want to play & am rather goofy. I'm not sure if it's just my personality or because of my past, but I follow my foster mom everywhere and always have to be close to her. I even think I'm a lap dog and try to sit/lay on her while giving her plenty of kisses to show my love. I need an owner/family that will give me the daily attention & exercise I need. I may be a big guy, but I'm still at 100% puppy mentality and need plenty of walks or play time at dog parks/in the yard.
Below are a few good things about me:
• Loves/gets along with dogs of all sizes & ages. No aggression, just excited & playful
• Loves to play & has so much energy & is very happy
• Easily goes in his crate at bedtime when I throw a treat in there
• Seems to like everyone he meets
• Was very good at the vet
• Has showed no aggression with food, toys or bones. I can take them away from him without a growl (he may try to run or turn his head if he doesn't want to give it up). I can put my hand on his face/in the bowl while he's eating and can also touch the bone/toy or his face while he's chewing/playing.
I am available for adoption through Looking Glass Animal Rescue, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We require an adoption application, reference checks and home visit. A tax-deductible adoption fee is required. All dogs are altered, vaccinated and microchipped. Please see our website for questions on our process. www.lgarinc.org
