PUGSLEY the Dog needs a home
THIS IS A COURTESY POSTING. CONTACT IS [email protected]
Pugsley, who appears to be a puggle is about six years old. He was hit by a car, probably directly in the head. Some good Samaritan turned him into the Brooklyn ACC, but they were not equipped to care for him and the plan was to just humanely put him to sleep at the close of business if no one stepped up to take him.
This was October29. Just before 5pm, a SHARP volunteer came to pick him up and take him to a vet.
The vet determined that he was probably in a coma, at least blind in one eye, perhaps both eyes and probably had swelling of the brain. His condition was grave and the vet didn’t expect Pugsley to make it through the night. BUT HE DID! At first he had to be hand fed and when let out he just circled. But he continued to improve. Eventually he started eating on his own, relieving himself while standing. He started to actually walk around the vet’s office. Shortly he will be ready to leave the vet. We first want to take him to an eye specialist to see if there is anything we can do for his other eye. He will need to be on medication for some time, including eye meds in both eyes three times a day. He will be a special needs dog for the rest of his life, but he likes people and likes to cuddle.
