Brea the Cat needs a home
Brea was born about August 17, 2014 and weighs about 5 lbs. She is a rather tiny cat that has obviously had a terrible life until now. It seems she has a previously broken front leg that didn't heal well and is somewhat painful for her to use. Because of this, she tends to hold her leg against her body when walking. This posture prevents her other front leg to extend the entire way causing her to walk tilted slightly forward. Our vet felt that something has injured her eyes, reducing her eyesight (bilateral dilated pupils) and causing the third eye lid to be elevated to help protect the eyeball.
Her third eyelids cover part of her eyeballs at all times. Medications have helped, but this seems to be chronic condition.
He felt there was nothing that could be done and noted that she does have some vision. Perhaps seeing an veterinary ophthalmologist would be a good idea. Even with all that she has been through, she is a sweet kitty who purrs as soon as you pick her up. She is a bit on the shy side and may take awhile to adjust. We do feel Brea would enjoy a more quiet home. This poor, sweet, gorgeous, kitty has been so mistreated. She came to us with hours old kittens and the person that brought her said she'd been living on their porch, in a cardboard box, for a year. It's time for her to find a forever family that will love her unconditionally and show her how wonderful life should be!
Brea has been in a wonderful foster home where she is adjusting nicely and coming out of her shell. Here is an update from Brea's foster mom: "Brea is developing into a very determined cat! ! She wants to do whatever comes into her mind! She LOVES "Da Bird" cat toy! I keep it low but she still jumps to get it and chases it at full speed! She has no problem jumping up on the bed. Her eye problem doesn't seem to cause a problem either. Chasing a cat toy is one of her favorite things to do! She continues to be very affectionate and will follow me and rub against my leg. She has become quite the character and would be a good addition to your home."
A cat can live 12-18+ years if cared for properly. Be sure you are able to care for it for its lifetime.
