Adopt a Shepherd / Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat)

Lord knows where she came from but she’s lucky to be alive. I think she knows it.

Zuri is the sweetest, most gentle girl.

She loves toys, loves chicken, loves her new pack.

She sleeps in the human bed (and she’s not a bed hog), or will take herself into her crate or sleeps with the rest of the pack in the pile of dog beds.

Little growly when she meets new dogs but that passes fast. Probably leary from previous animal attack.  But she has super short learning curve, the growly ended after 48 hours and the play and yard zoomies took over. The growly was fear based, not aggression.

She’s not food aggressive with treats at all but she’s being fed separately while we all get to know each other and because of the number of dogs in our home. She takes herself into the bedroom when I tell her it’s dinner time and she sits patiently for me to come get her when everyone has eaten. It’s pretty amazing. And adorable.

She’s been amazing on the leash and has not been at all reactive when she sees other dogs.

New people coming in and out a lot and she is fine. We’ve had repairmen, weekend company, dinner guests and she has been sweet and not the least bit stressed. Rather napping on the sofa during all the comings and goings. She is s smart girl. I can see her watching the rest of the pack and mimicking what they do in new situations. Her personality is starting to come out and she is a darling girl.

Zuri found her way to TSDP after a Good Samaritan reached out for help after finding her badly injured in East Texas.  She had a terrible head injury so will likely have a scar the rest of her life but is a true survivor who has made a full recovery and is ready to find the loving family she deserved all along (be sure to check out the video of her incredible journey)!
