Adopt a Scottish Terrier Scottie
Yodell - February UPDATE the Dog needs a home
Yodell's most recent urinalysis shows the most drastic of infections has been resolved, however, he continues to have another infection. There is consideration that he may have a skin issue that is causing some of these issues, so we will be bathing him with special treatments over the next 14 days, as well as treating him with topical products.
If you are able to make a small donation to help offset Yodell's hospitalization and medications, he would be very appreciative of your generosity. His latest vet stay incurred costs of $900.00.

Once again, Yodell has to be hospitalized for a urinary tract infection. This time, he has two different bugs.
Every time we need to test his urine it has to be cultured, which is a more expensive and more in-depth method of testing. This test will also tell us what specific medication will kill the infection(s). One of his infections is easily treated with an oral medication, but the other requires a daily injection & fluids to prevent kidney issues, as well as several blood tests to make sure his kidney values remain in a normal range.
If you are able to make a small donation to help offset Yodell's hospitalization and medications, he would be very appreciative of your generosity.

a) We were able to visit with Yodell at the clinic on Thursday 1-18-18. We are happy to report he is feeling much better. He has made friends with one of the vet tech's who is responsible for his injections & fluids. They sit on the floor while he takes in the fluids and he has a lot of cuddle time, despite the big needle!
b) Yodell's 10 days at the clinic are now over! He is back in our care and is feeling really well. He will need another urine culture next week, and another in 2-3 months to make sure the infection has been totally resolved, but we are happy he is feeling so much better. He was a favorite at the vet clinic!

9-23-17 Yodell continues to improve. We received the results of his urine culture. The infection is sensitive to the antibiotics that he is already taking, so we plan to keep him on them for at least 2 weeks, then have his urine tested again. These tests and his hospitalization have been expensive, but this senior citizen deserves to have the medical care he requires!
9-20-17 Yodell's temperature seems to have finally stabilized, after a high yesterday of 103. We are still waiting for his urine culture results which will determine the best antibiotic to give him. He remains hospitalized on IV fluids and IV antibiotics. We are hoping to bring him back to his foster home tomorrow.
9-19-17 We received Yodell's urinalysis results this morning. There are no TCC cells in his urine, which is good news. We're now culturing his urine to see which specific antibiotics will attack the massive infection he has in his bladder and kidneys. He threw a blood clot during the night, so he has been started on blood thinning medications. Yodell will remain hospitalized.
9-18-17 Yodell was taken to our vet early this morning with a high fever (105), vomiting, diarrhea and blood in his urine. He has been hospitalized, placed on IV fluids and IV antibiotics. The day was spent having multiple tests, such as ultrasound, blood testing, fecal testing and he was catherized in order to obtain a sterile urine sample for testing. It is possible Yodell has acquired TCC, but we won't know for sure until his test results come in, hopefully tomorrow. In the meantime, he remains hospitalized.
If you are able to help us with the high cost of his hospitalization and tests, he would be so grateful.

Yodell
was recently surrendered to us so he could find a new home. He is an
AKC
purebred Scottie who is approximately
10yo
. He is seeking a home that will shower him with the love and attention that he so rightfully deserves!
All dogs adopted by Scottie Kingdom Rescue, Inc. have had a full medical exam by one of our licensed Veterinarians, which includes testing (and treatment, if necessary) for Heartworm disease, Lyme disease, Ehrlichia and Anaplasmosis, all necessary vaccinations, spay/neuter surgery, dental cleaning as necessary, microchipping, registration of the microchip, and any other medical needs each particular dog may need. Copies of all available medical records are transferred to you when the adoption is finalized.
We prefer to adopt to families with past Scottie, Westie, Terrier experience, but realize this isn’t always possible. We do NOT ship our pets. If you have that special place in your heart, and in your home, for a Scottie (or any of our other available rescue dogs), please visit us in Dallas for an in person meet & greet session with our available dogs. If you have existing dogs, they should travel to Dallas with you, so we can be assured that they will be compatible with the new addition to your family.

We sometimes receive several applications on the same dog. Our goal is to place the dog in the best home possible, based on his/her needs, personality and past history. Please note: Adoptions are not done on a first come, first served basis. Submitting an application does not guarantee the adoption of any dog. We are looking for the best available home for each of our rescue dogs.
Thank you for your understanding, and for considering adoption!
