King 0358 the Dog needs a home
My name is King. Why don't you grab a cup of coffee and I will tell you my story. I am 3 years old and I am here because my old human brought me to a shelter in North Carolina because I was unwanted. Looking back, that was a good thing, because he was not very kind to me. He made me unable to trust people, so it takes me awhile to warm up to new people, especially men. I warmed up to my foster dad and it only took 6 days, so I am doing pretty good, and although my foster family really loves me, i want a forever family soon so that I can relax and be a happy dog.
As you can see from my pictures, I get along well with other dogs, probably because they have been nicer to me than humans. I don't mind cats, right now I am living with 5 of them and I am doing good, so check that off your list of must haves in a new companion.
I am heartworm positive and this means that I must have these horrible shots and stay very calm for 3 months, that is a long time in doggie time. My last shot is the first week of March. I am looking forward to the day that I can run, jump and play and take walks.
I have that day marked on my calendar, it is April 20th.
I will be good as new! Right now I spend a lot of time in my crate or in my room with stuffed Kongs, bones and bullysticks. I pass the time by learning to sit, stay and down. Once in awhile i get to go out in the living room and spend some time curled up on the couch. Can you believe that my human did not care enough about me to spend $8.00 a month on heartworm preventatives, but it is time to forget about my past and talk about my future. (Foster mom here, just wanted to add that SSR will be paying for all heartworm treatment) okay, continue with your story King.

So, I have had some time to think about what I want in a forever family. I don't mean to be demanding, but I do want to be happy, so this is what I need:
- A fenced in yard that I can be free and relax and watch everything going on in the world.
- A family that will be patient and not get frustrated because I don't want to play with toys right away or cuddle up with you the day you take me home. I will be a loyal loving friend, but it will take time.
- I need a crate so that when I feel overwhelmed, I can go in and relax and feel safe. I also don't mind being in my crate when my humans go away.
- I want to go to school and learn how to be confident and trust new people that come into my forever home, so will you be willing to sign me up?
- I would also like us to meet more than once, because I want to make sure that we are a good match, I don't want to have to go through yet another home, I am so tired and just want a family to love me forever. I mean, look at me, I am adorable, what is not to love.
I really don't think that any of these requests are unreasonable, I mean you will be getting a great me!
