UPDATE 11/7: Marcie's foster Mom thinks she is an exceptionally sweet girl that is young at heart. She's house-trained, loves being petted and loves nylabones. She however does not like cats. Marcie is a very affectionate dog with people she knows, but can be leery of strangers and will sometimes growl at them. She would do best in an adult only home. Marcie has been battling a chronic cough for some time and it has not responded to antibiotics. The x-rays reveal some congestion, and the doctor feels she has chronic bronchitis that gets aggravated by allergies. She also is in the very early stages of kidney disease and will need to be on prescription dog food and monitored regularly by a veterinarian. She's slimmed down to 32 pounds, and is looking good. She recently had a dental and had 9 teeth extracted (premolars). This poor girl has been through a lot, but none of it is slowing her down. She can't wait to find a forever home. -------
Meet Marcie, a lovely 9 year-old Corgi/Spaniel mix female who recently lost the only home she’s ever known when her family was divorcing and no one could keep her. She was headed to the shelter when a volunteer intervened to find a rescue for her. Marcie made the trip to Canine Lifeline and is now looking for a quiet, mature home in which to relax and enjoy her golden years. Although she is with other dogs in her foster home, she would probably prefer to be the only pet in the home. She doesn’t seem to want to interact with other dogs and is protective of her food if they get near her while she’s eating. Marcie does like to eat and will need to lose weight in her new home. At 39 pounds, she’s about 5-10 pounds overweight so a gentle exercise program coupled with a low-cal diet are in her future. She will need a family who will help her stick to a healthier lifestyle. Marcie is a little sad and confused after losing her home but is sure to be a very loyal and devoted companion for her new family. Her adoption fee is $150. She’s spayed, on monthly heartworm preventative, up to date on vaccinations including bivalent canine influenza, wormed, on flea preventative, and microchipped. As part of the adoption process, all adopters must commit to a two-week adjustment period to make sure it’s a great match before the adoption is finalized. Please email [email protected] if you’re interested in Marcie. An approved application is required before we schedule meets with any of our dogs. All of our dogs come to us from county dog pounds so we have no history on them. We also have no foster homes with young children so aren’t comfortable placing any of them in a home with children less than 7 years of age. We try to respond to inquiries within 48 hours so if you haven’t heard from us within that time frame, please check your junkmail or spam folder to make sure our reply hasn’t landed in there. Please visit our website at www.caninelifeline.org to see more photos of Marcie and to submit an online application.
