Adopt a Shiba Inu (medium coat)
Hikaru the Dog needs a home
Hikaru, formerly known as Shiba 'AID1818039' from the Bonita shelter is safe and a love! This sweet boy came to us in terrible shape and needed a few tests performed to get him feeling better.
What we know: He was a stray in San Diego. He's approximately 5-7 years old. He is a red Shiba and appears to be purebred. He initially had a dry eye condition, which has seemed to clear up. His skin issue was pretty bad, but with frequent baths, we seem to have things in control and he is feeling much better. We anticipate he will have to remain on a grain free and poultry free diet, but he is doing great so far. He also had bladder stones, which were surgically removed. To be sure he doesn't get bladder stones again, he is on a cranberry pill supplement. He is super sweet and seems to enjoy car rides. Very sweet and takes treats gently from your hand. He is very active and enjoys chasing after the ball.
He is current on vaccines, microchipped and neutered. He is friendly once he warms up to people. Hikaru is good with some dogs; unknown how he is with cats or children.
The Shiba-Inu is a primitive breed, and a living national monument in their native Japan. They are not very affectionate dogs, but are extremely loyal to their family/owner. Similar to the Japanese Akita because of their appearance and fierce loyalty, Shiba-Inus are a great breed to adopt because they are small-sized dogs that are smart and loyal. They are also known to be escape artists and door-bolters. Adopters who have previously owned or are accustomed to this breed will be considered. If interested in adopting him, please complete an application. Applications: http://www.savingshibasinc.org/adopt
Adoption Fee: $300.00
